Product Description
Silver Evaporation Slugs

Silver slugs", also known as "silver bullet anodes", are short cylinders of silver.
They are often used as silver vapor deposition slugs for physical vapor deposition (PVD).
PVD for evaporation slugs involves heating the slug so that the silver vaporizes, transfers in a vacuum or partial vacuum to the substrate (the object that will be coated), and then condenses to form a thin film on the surface.
A similar coating process is electrode position, which is used for electroplating.
In electrode position, the silver bullet anode and the cathode or substrate are both placed in an electrolytic solution. Direct current is applied to the anode, which dissolves in the solution and then adheres to the cathode.
Typical slug sizes are 1/4" diameter x 1/4" long and 3/8" diameter x 3/8" long.
Surepure Chemetals can supply made-to-order silver slugs.
Lead time is usually 2 - 3 weeks.
We also have some silver slugs in stock.
